Comments: Transparency Camp West: Observations

Hi Mary,

Thanks for sharing your observations about TransparencyCamp. Even though I was there as well, I learned something new from reading about your experience.

While I've been producing "traditional" conferences for a living for several years, I see the value in unconferences and may even host one at some point. So I appreciate the feedback from you and Kaliya about how to improve the process.

I also wanted to let you know that I was the one to facilitate the session you mentioned about what types of limits should be placed on transparency (mostly because of my concerns about protecting individual privacy), and I do plan to post a summary of what was said. It might not happen today because I'm playing catch up on some work, but I'll let you know once it's online.

I look forward to seeing you at another event soon. We've actually crossed paths a number of times but haven't formally met each other. So I'll make it a point to change that next time...

Best,
Natalie (TechPolicy on Twitter)

Hi Natalie,
Thanks for posting the comment. I have updated to list you as the facilitator of the session and when you do your blog post, let me know so i can update again with a link to it. I'm thrilled you got it all down because i thought it was very interesting.

Hey,

Thanks for the feedback! When we do the next event, we'll make sure to incorporate this. And I'm glad you liked my singing.

Thanks!

As a first timer to this particular process, I felt pretty uncomfortable in day 1. The groups I selected had too many people and no process to allow for much depth of exchange. Your comments and Kaliya's help me to understand my own reactions and how I might better contribute to future events.
