Comments: Bobby Short Died

Me, too, babe! Watching Short at the Carlyle was always a guilty (and expensive) pleasure, but well worth it. My mom first took me in the early 1970s and I've been there many times since. It wasn't like seeing Duke Ellington or Louis Armstrong play; Short was a member of the following generation. Watching him perform was like seeing Brando on stage or Johnny Cash strum. After Sinatra's and Ray Charles' deaths, Short was only one of two living legends left of that generation. Now only Tony Bennett remains.
